The Toronto Blue Jays continue to look at potential late-season options for
their inconsistent bullpen.
General manager Alex Anthopoulos reportedly has signed former Detroit and New
York Yankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain, who the Tigers released on July
10.
On Sunday, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said rookie Aaron Sanchez would
return to the bullpen once he rejoins the team from his rehab assignment with
triple-A Buffalo. He made 11 starts prior to landing on the disabled list in
mid-June with a mild lat muscle strain.
Chamberlain, 29, entered June with a 1.26 earned-run average but it rose
nearly three runs over the next 10 appearances with Detroit, which designated
him for assignment on July 4.
"His arm was working good. He was throwing in the mid-90s," Tigers manager
Brad Ausmus told the Detroit News earlier this month. "It wouldn't shock me
if someone took a shot on him thinking maybe a change of environment would be
good for him."
In 30 games this season, he posted a 4.09 ERA, allowing 32 hits in 22 innings
while walking five and striking out 15.
Chamberlain's fastball was reaching 95-97 miles per hour and his slider and
curveball were sharp, but they weren't producing outs with consistency.
Chamberlain signed with Detroit before the 2014 season, seized the
eighth-inning setup role and helped turn the Tigers' season around but had
his problems in the second half. He had a 2.63 ERA in the first half and 4.97
ERA the rest of the way, but returned to the team on a $1-million US contract.
The hard-throwing Chamberlain has experience pitching in the American League
East, spending his first seven major league seasons with the Yankees. He
broke into the majors as a starter but has been a relief pitcher since the
start of the 2010 campaign.
In parts of nine seasons with Detroit and New York, Chamberlain has a 25-21
record, seven saves and 3.82 ERA. He won a World Series with the Yankees in
2009.

不過樓上所提的兩位都是離開洋基後才投出來的Hughes還好一些,威過一年...

沒有這回事好嗎 Hughes在NY不錯過好幾年...他生涯在NY的數據和王相差無幾...養出Hughes和王就贏許多隊了 還有些堪用的像Nova這都還沒提頂得還可以但還沒在兩季以上證明自己的像Warren等人 NY這十年來養成沒很出色沒錯 但要說到最後幾個被人笑也絕對輪不到 還有許多人都忽略了那些精美的順位..好像很多人覺得每隊的出發點是一樣的 XD這些都很老的話題了現在也不重要了...
