星系碰撞在宇宙是相當普遍的。例如一般認為仙女座星系在過去就曾經和其他星系至少發
生過一次碰撞。理論上我們的太陽系在這場碰撞過程中也有一定的可能從合併形成的新星
系中釋放出來，而在星系碰撞的初期甚至有可能成為仙女座星系的一部分。由於恆星間的
距離非常遙遠，這種事件對太陽系本身不會有什麼負面影響。
