Ko starred at the 18-and-under World Cup in his native Taiwan in September
2023, going 11-for-20 with seven walks while earning a silver medal. At the
press conference announcing his signing for $650,000 nine months later,
Dodgers director of Pacific Rim scouting Jon Deeble likened him to Cody
Bellinger. He earned Arizona Complex League All-Star honors in his U.S. debut
in 2025, pacing the Rookie circuit in wRC+ (175), on-base percentage (.487)
and OPS (1.026) before making his Single-A debut at age 18.
Ko displayed an advanced approach for his age, rarely chasing while working
counts and waiting for pitches to drive. His hitting ability and plus raw
power could translate into 20-25 homers annually once he's fully developed.
Even when he struggled following his promotion to Single-A, he still managed
the strike zone well and was able to drive balls in the air.
Already 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Ko is more physical than twitchy but moves
well for his size. He'll steal and take extra bases when given the
opportunity, and he has enough quickness and instincts to play a capable
center field. Still, he fits better on the corners and has the solid arm
strength for right field.
